A New Exhibition, Scottish Sunsets & Summer on the Fells

Well hello there!

I'm not quite sure where May and June have disappeared to - they've flown by in the blink of an eye.

I hope you've been keeping well and enjoying some of the warm weather we've been having. There's something incredibly uplifting about seeing the evening sun spilling across the fells and catching the tops of the mountains. It certainly brings a lot of joy here.

So, what have the last few weeks looked like for me?

After returning from my London residency, I jumped straight into finishing two large artworks for an interior design showroom. They're now installed, and I can't wait to share them with you once I’ve paid a visit!

More recently, I've been immersed in creating a brand-new collection for an exhibition in Lancaster.

The exhibition is now open and will be running until the end of September at Arteria Gallery. If you're passing through and would like to take a look, you can find more information on opening times & location here: https://www.arteriashop.co.uk/aboutcontact/

I thoroughly enjoyed creating this collection, moving between bold colour palettes and quieter, more calming pieces. Seeing them all together in the studio before delivery felt a little like watching a conversation unfold between the works.

Now that the exhibition pieces are on display, I'm back working on bespoke commissioned artworks - something that never loses its magic for me.

If you've ever wondered about commissioning a piece for your home, I'd love to hear from you.

A much-needed pause

After several very busy weeks in the studio, a dose of peace and quiet felt essential.

We've just returned from a wonderful weekend in Dumfries and Galloway, staying in a beautiful shepherd's hut perched high on a hillside at The Pretty Wild Flower Co.

The ‘Fold is a unique, hand-crafted, off-grid shepherds hut, situated on the site of a 200 year old sheepfold.

Surrounded by rolling moorland and endless skies, it felt wonderfully removed from the noise of everyday life. The only sounds were birdsong, the breeze through the grasses, and the occasional distant “moo”. It was exactly the sort of place that encourages you to slow down and simply watch the landscape change with the light.

Although I was there to switch off, I of course couldn't resist a little sketching…

The hut is completely off-grid and without power, so this drawing was created in the soft glow of the evening as daylight slowly faded beyond the hills (it was a quick study, masterpiece claims are strictly off the table).

If you're looking for somewhere to step away from technology and recharge, I couldn't recommend this charming spot more.

Summer in the Lakes

As heavenly as the Scottish retreat was, I'm equally excited for the summer months ahead here in Cumbria.

I'm hoping they'll involve plenty of early morning walks, long evenings on the fells, and the sort of clear summer days that make the Lake District feel especially magical.

A recent hiking day in the central Lakes. With the small furry one in-tow, of course.

Artist in the wild…

Well, that's all from me for now.

I'll be back in touch soon with more studio updates and summer adventures.

Until then, here’s to a wonderful July on the horizon!

Sending you all the goodness,

Charlotte
