August Journal: The Lake District, Bespoke Stories & a Special Collaboration.

I hope you’ve been enjoying the beautiful sunshine we’ve been lucky enough to have recently. Here in the Lake District, we’ve had some much-needed rain arrive this past week - and it’s been lovely to see just how quickly the landscape responds. The grass seems greener, the plants are lifting again, and I’m sure the wildlife has been grateful for a little refresh.
July has been a lovely month of quiet progress, exciting projects coming together, and a few moments of stepping back to appreciate how lucky I feel to be doing what I do.
A special collaboration finally revealed
I was delighted to be invited to create artwork for the beautiful House of Carvetii showroom near Kendal - a space filled with thoughtful design, natural materials, and so much attention to detail.
An existing artwork was chosen for the kitchen space, and seeing it alongside the beautiful green marble worktop felt like such a perfect pairing. It’s always a joy when an artwork finds a space where it feels as though it has always belonged.

For the bedroom, I was commissioned to create two bespoke pieces inspired by the soft, muted earth tones of the room. The artworks also had a rather exciting purpose - they were designed as moving covers for the television, creating a seamless blend of art and technology within the space.

It was such a wonderful collaboration to be part of, and I hope the showroom will offer inspiration for anyone wondering how artwork can be tailored to a space and become part of the feeling of a home.
Two bespoke artworks finding their way home
July also saw two very special bespoke artworks complete their journeys and make their way to their new homes.

Both pieces hold such beautiful personal meanings behind them, shaped through conversations, colours, memories and the feelings my clients hoped to bring into their spaces.
I genuinely feel so grateful for the wonderful people I get to meet through my work. Years into being an artist, I still have moments where I stop and think how lucky I am that my days are filled with painting, nature, creativity and connecting with people from all over.
Looking towards late summer
After some lovely time spent with friends and family recently, I’m feeling refreshed and excited for this next chapter of the year.
There are some beautiful new projects beginning to take shape, new commissions ahead, and plenty of painting time planned as we move into the softer light of late summer.
